How exactly do you explain the reasons for your termination to the person who's conducting your job interview – with full honesty, but without completely jeopardizing your chances of getting the job?
The good news is, you've made it to the interview stage, which means the employer is already interested in what you have to offer. The fact that you were fired doesn't necessarily have to get in the way of you being offered the job.
When you disclose your termination, the key is to know how to present the facts and circumstances in a way that will reassure your interviewer that you:
- have grown from this experience;
- have learned from any mistakes you've made;
- are willing to move on; and
- are the right person for this new job.
