Y2K Resources

If you want to research the good and bad news, here are just a few of the hundreds of Web resources about Y2K.

  • For current news and resource links, see the Year 2000 page at Computer Currents Magazine.
  • To find out how the Y2K bug might affect you and the devices in your home, see the ABC News Special Report. (This is a busy site, slow to respond sometimes.)  Includes audio clips and interactive media.
  • Get information about your investments, finances, and home computer at The Year 2000 Bug by Money Magazine.
  • Rather watch or listen online than read? Try Y2K LIVE!
  • Most recently-manufactured computers are year 2000 compliant. To see if yours is, download Test2000.Zip, courtesy of RighTime.Com. Be sure to read Test2000.txt before running the program. Alternately, check your PC manufacturer's Web site for Y2K information.
  • Worried about your software? Just check the makers' Web sites. Look for the URL in the documentation or the help menu, or just type the company name into Netscape's URL window. Many, such as Microsoft, have posted Y2K information.

For more year 2000 resources, see Tech Watch under More From Your Guide.
