Posting General Jobs

This is a reputable forum. Chain letters and emails, MLM, business opportunities, work-at-home, 900 numbers, and other scams and schemes are not allowed. You know who you are! Advertisements for products and services are also not allowed. See FAQ.

These guidelines are for posting general openings in the Always Hiring folder. To post specific, detailed job openings, please see the guidelines for the Jobs Offered folder.

If you're a recruiter, employer or employee who knows of job opportunities at your company, you may may post active, no-fee, US and international, general job openings in science, technology, healthcare and medicine. Please read the FAQ about what is inappropriate to post on this forum. If your openings are appropriate, please post to the Always Hiring folder and provide the following.

  • Representative job titles
  • Brief job descriptions
  • Minimum experience required
  • Job location(s)
  • Company name or personal name, and clearly identify whether you are a recruiter or employer
  • Contact person(s)
  • Phone number(s) with area code
  • Addresses (especially email) or fax numbers
  • Instructions for résumés
  • If you are an employer, site URL for job seeker research, if available

Job seekers must be able to send their résumés directly to the contacts via email, snail-mail or fax without additional steps. For example, directing job seekers to submit résumés or search for jobs by linking to job and résumé sites is not allowed in the forum. The categories here at Job Searching - Technical are the appropriate places for such. If you wish to submit a site for consideration, please see Sites under Frequently Asked Questions in When to Email Your Guide.

If you wish to link directly to an employer's site so that job seekers may research the company, that's okay. But, it's not okay to link to consulting firms, staffing firms, temp agencies, etc. Again, categories are the appropriate places for such. When linking to employers' sites, please don't link away from the forum. In other words, omit targets in your links; the forum automatically opens a new window for your URL.

For the benefit of our audience, include general job titles and locations. For example, if you're looking for computer experts or entry-level candidates of all types, list some representative job titles. If your opportunities are in several cities, states or countries, lists them. (If you list cities, be sure to provide the states, provinces or countries if there are other locales by the same name; e.g., Jackson, MS and  Jackson, TN.) Please, no excess punctuation (!!!), symbols ($@#) or UPPERCASE characters. That's called shouting on the Net, it's considered rude, and it draws the wrong kind of attention to your message. You may get flamed! It also hints to the wise that your opportunity may be a scam or scheme, as opportunists often include such in tabloid-style ads.

Please follow these guidelines as closely as practical. Job Searching - Technical realizes that your job opportunities may change frequently. But rather than posting vaguely, please return and edit your post as needed. It's in your best interest to provide as many details as possible, to establish trust and distinguish your genuine job listings from vague, questionable and fraudulent "opportunities" often posted to forums. Hypes such as "We'll find you a job, guaranteed." are too broad and misleading. They're commercials, not jobs. ;-) Vague, questionable and fraudulent posts, and advertisements for sites, products or services (free or otherwise) will be removed from the forum. Please see Be an Advertiser for information about advertising at About.com.

Please don't ask me to post for you, as you are solely responsible for your content and must register to post.

Typically, I delete job posts after six months. If you want to remove your post sooner, just

  • Log on.
  • Open your message.
  • Click the Delete button near the bottom of your message.
  • Be sure to confirm the deletion when asked.

For more instructions about how to use this forum, please see Forum How To's.

Thanks for helping to keep Job Searching - Technical a reputable resource!
