Y2K Job Opportunities
Bad or not so bad depending on which articles you read, it's a problem that must be fixed. That's great for IT recruiters, experienced programmers and other IT professionals. The Y2K problem has caused demand to increase, for it is IT professionals who will fix the problem, including old pros who are experienced in the older languages, such as COBOL and FORTRAN.
Hmm...I wonder if the old timers did this on purpose for job security? Probably not. It's more likely that they just didn't think their software would still be in use today.
There are definitely job opportunities in this niche. But, the niche is not exclusively reserved for computer pros. There are also offshoot opportunities for accountants, sales people, technicians, researchers, business executives, and more.
