Writing a Thank-You Letter
How to Download
Instructions are included for both Netscape 4.7 and Internet Explorer 5.0. The procedure for other versions is similar.
Internet Explorer 5.0
- Right-click the sample thank-you letter download link
with your mouse. Explorer opens the window below.
- If you left-click instead, Explorer attempts to open the file rather than download it, and you don't see this window.
- Just click Cancel and start this step over again.

- Click Save Target As...
- Explorer might briefly display an interim window while it gathers file information.
- Explorer opens the window below. Choose the directory where you want to
save the sample thank-you letter.
- You may type a new file name, but don't change the file type from RTF or your applications may not recognize it.

- Click Save and the download proceeds.
Try it here or return to Download Samples first (the page that got you here). The sample links below open a new, but smaller browser window, so you can still see these instructions and try other samples. Each time you click a sample link again, the new sample displays in the same smaller window, but this window will cover it because you clicked here last. Just bring the smaller window to the front of your screen. For example, in Windows® 95, click on it in the taskbar below.
Sample 1
Anatomy of an ideal thank-you letter. It's not set in concrete, but rather just
a guide.
Sample 2
Confidence, gratitude, and all the anatomic parts.
Sample 3
Follow-up with an HR rep, who might have the final say whether you're hired or
not.
