Silicon Alley Survey

According to The New York New Media Industry Survey published in late 1997, Silicon Alley was essentially south of 41st Street. That's approximately what this Silicon Alley map shows too, so that's what we'll stick with.

At the time of the survey, Silicon Alley was home to 1,106 new media companies, with hundreds more in the Manhattan neighborhoods north of Silicon Alley. The survey estimated 48,828 new media jobs for the entire area. Since the survey was in 1997 and the boom has continued, the numbers for companies and jobs have surely increased by now.
