Other than attending or participating, what could be cooler than working at the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia? According to Adecco, an international employment firm and the official staffing service for the games, there are still jobs available.
The Olympic Games take place September 15 through October 1. The Paralympic Games take place October 18-29. Some of the jobs start before the games and run full term or beyond, while others start or terminate during the games. Jobs include technical trades and related opportunities, but they're not easy to come by.
- If you are already in Australia, but not a citizen or permanent resident, you must have a visa that allows you to work at the games, such as a working holidaymaker visa or student visa.
- If you are residing overseas, you must be sponsored by a participating Australian employer. The employer must show that they cannot find an Australian resident who has the same skills as you.
- You must follow the resume and application procedures to the letter.
- You must have impeccable references and pass a security check conducted by the police.
Adecco lists a mix of specific job descriptions and broad opportunities. To find out more and apply for the jobs, browse their official Sydney 2000 Olympics job site. (At first, it might appear that some links run you in circles. But, if you scroll down the page after you click on one of those links, you'll see the topic you're after.) Also browse the Olympic Labour Network, a joint venture between the Australian government and Adecco.
