The Solution
Searching online newspapers on the Web is more convenient. Way more. It's so much easier and faster to target specific jobs, trades, industries and employers. With just a few mouse clicks, you may hit every newspaper in your town, without getting your hands dirty!

Many online newspapers include multiple job services and Web links to even more job services. At many sites, you may upload (post) your résumé for free, then automatically send it to the employers you select by just clicking. Some even have intelligent software that automatically scans job data banks and compares them to your qualifications while you sleep! Then in the morning, you just check your email to see which jobs the software found for you.

Employers usually want to know where you found their ad. In the technical world, it speaks volumes when you tell them that you found it on the Web. The same goes for sending your résumé over the Web. What better way can you state to technical employers right off the bat that you have computer and Web savvy, before they even read one line of your cover letter?

You don't have to rely on newspaper ads alone to evaluate companies. After all, many ads are placed by ad specialists. Ads are essentially commercials designed to attract you and stimulate your desires for money, status and security. Most online newspapers provide direct links to employers' Web sites, where you get more detailed information about the companies. Even better, they often provide links to unbiased, corporate profiles by independent services, such as Hoover's Online. That's where you really get the straight skinny on employers and it's usually free. For example, you may want to know if a company is profitable before you invest your time and efforts.
