The Catch
Usually, there isn't one. In most cases, employers pay the on-line
newspapers, not you. Many newspapers let you browse their ads and use their
job services for free. Some may want to know who you are (a Web handle may do)
in case you're an evil hacker. A few others may require you to subscribe for a
small fee. But you pay for the pulp edition, too, without the search
convenience, right? It's well worth the fee. (I swear, I don't get a penny of
it!) Once you find a job, you may cancel your subscription if you wish, no
problem.
