Telecommuting
A Matter of Trust
Part II
There are two, typical types of telecommuters.
One is self-employed as an independent contractor, freelance or
small-business owner, who provides services to companies such as programming, copywriting, and
graphics. The other is a temp or permanent, computer-savvy employee who
works from home part to full time, doing essentially the same tasks he or she would do at the
office.
Whether or not they know it, the latter type is probably what most people really mean when they say that they want a "telecommuting job." It's also essentially what Mr. Nilles had in mind when he coined the term. So, that's what this article sticks to when referring to "telecommuting jobs."
