Don't be fooled by guarantees.
Some are cleverly worded to imply that you will land a telecommuting job. But, guarantees are
only promises that you can get your money back if you're not satisfied. You have to make an effort
to claim it. Many don't claim their money, because they are embarrassed they were taken or it's just
too much trouble. That's one of the ways rip-off sites stay in business.
The Internet has opened a whole new avenue for the scammers to fling the same bull you find in the classified sections of tabloids, so watch out for them on the Net, too. The old sayings apply.
- If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
- If it requires an investment or fee, ignore it.
Reputable job sites, recruiters and employers don't charge job seekers for typical employment services, period. In fact, it is outlawed in some states.
