Women's Career Resources|
It seems that as more women break out of traditional job roles, more resources become available to help other women follow suit. Yet, statistics show that in the technical arena, such as computer science, women still hold only a small percentage of the jobs and degrees.
According to a 1996 survey by the Computing Research Association, only 16% of the bachelor's degrees in computer science were awarded to women. While master's degrees were up a bit at 20%, a mere12% of the PhDs went to women. Why? Articles by WiredNews and the Sacramento Bee offer some theories on the matter.
As a man, I'm not qualified to write much more than this about women's career issues. But, I can certainly help when it comes to technical resources on the Net, so that's where I focused my efforts. I found lots of resources for women. Below, I've listed those that assist and encourage women in technical fields. Also check my category spawned by this feature, Women's Resources. It includes some of these and more. If you're a woman in an ethnic minority group, check my Cultural Diversity category, too.
