The CGEIT is the new (as of 2008) globally recognized Governance of Enterprise IT designation, offered by the ISACA organization. The CGEIT certification process is designed for professionals who have a significant management, advisory, or assurance role relating to the governance of IT. The certification promotes the advancement of professionals who wish to be recognized for their IT governance-related experience and knowledge. Taking a lead role in the establishment and management of information technology infrastructure and processes, individuals playing a role in IT governance provide significant support to the Board of Directors and executive management. The CGEIT certification program recognizes those who have the necessary level of professional knowledge, personal skills, and business experience to maximize the contribution made by information technology to an enterprise's success while managing and minimizing the risks posed by IT.
In order to obtain certification, you must:
- Pass the CGEIT exam
- Adhere to the ISACA Code of Professional Ethics
- Agree to comply with the CGEIT Continuing Education Policy
- Provide evidence of appropriate IT governance work experience
