Microsoft is rolling out its revised Microsoft Certified Solution Developer this summer. Gone for over a year now is the former MCSD certification of 2005, based on Windows .NET. Two new MCSD certifications are being rolled out this summer.
The first MCSD certification path is based on Windows Metro Style Apps, in two streams: HTML5 and C#. Three exams are required for either stream, which will be available through Prometric Testing Centers. Right now, the exams are still in beta testing.
Microsoft Certified Program Developers (MCPD) can upgrade their certification to MCSD by taking two exams in either the the HTML5 or C# stream.
The details of the second certification for Web Applications is being announced in the upcoming weeks.
