Posting Job Fairs
| This is a reputable forum. MLM, business opportunity, pyramid and work-at-home seminars, and other scams and schemes are not allowed. You know who you are! Advertisements for products and services are also not allowed. See FAQ. |
If you're a producer, sponsor or employer, you may post details of no-fee job fairs, company open houses, and other career events for science, technology, healthcare and medicine. If you're a producer who regularly schedules career events, send an email to request that they appear among the others in Job Fairs. (But please check for your listing first.) Include a URL that shows the schedule and describes the events in detail.
Please read the FAQ about what is inappropriate to post on this board. If your event is appropriate, be specific and post it in the Job Fair folder. Provide:
- Date
- Time
- Name of the event facility, complete street address (Ave., Dr., Ct., etc.) with city, state and zip code, and phone number with area code
- Event contact person's name, email address and phone number with area code
- Nature of the event (e.g., general, technical, IT, engineering)
- Examples of jobs offered
- Minimum experience required if applicable
- Full details of registration if required
- Event, sponsor and facility URLs if available
It's a good idea to include the location in the subject (e.g., Technical Fair, St. Louis). Be sure to provide the state (or province and country) abbreviation if there are other locales by the same name. (e.g., Jackson, MS and Jackson, TN.) Driving directions from main arteries are nice too, or a link to a map. Please, no excess punctuation, symbols or UPPERCASE characters. That's called shouting on the Net, it's considered rude, and it draws the wrong kind of attention to your message. You may get flamed! It also hints to the wise that your event may be a scam or scheme, as opportunists often include such in tabloid-style ads.
You may deep-link directly to details of specific fairs, but not generally to career fair sites. That's my job. Please don't link away from the forum. In other words, omit targets in your links; the forum automatically opens a new window for your URL.
Please follow the guidelines closely. It's in your best interest to provide as many details as possible, to establish trust and distinguish your genuine career event from vague, questionable and fraudulent events (e.g., multilevel-marketing seminars) often posted to forums. Posts such as "Job fairs throughout the US" are too broad and misleading. They're commercials, not specific events. ;-) Vague, questionable and fraudulent events, and advertisements for products or services will be removed from the forum. Please see Be an Advertiser for information about advertising at About.com.™
Please don't ask me to post your events for you, as you are solely responsible for your content and must register to post.
Typically, I remove job-fair posts soon after the event. If you want to remove your post sooner, just
- Log on.
- Open your message.
- Click the Delete button near the bottom of your message.
- Be sure to confirm the deletion when asked.
